The Hurricane Season of 2018 has certainly been a lot calmer in the Atlantic Basin than we first thought. That's the good news. The bad news is this. The peak of Hurricane Season is less than a month away. That means we still have a lot of tenuous weeks to be concerned with what might be spinning up in the little latitudes.

Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center are predicting that a low-pressure system will roll off the African continent in the next few days. This system should have enough spin and convection to warrant concerns of tropical development.

Over the next five days, forecasters are suggesting that this system will have a 20% probability of strengthening into a tropical cyclone. So, given the fact that this system is hardly even a system and it's more than an ocean away from the U.S. mainland and even further away from the Gulf of Mexico we will just simply watch and wait.
