The 11th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team won their second game of the day on Saturday, edging the Samford Bulldogs, 1-0, in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The win, which followed an 8-0 triumph over Southeast Missouri St. earlier in the day, extended Louisiana's season-opening win streak to four games, as they pushed their record in the Sand Dollar Classic to 4-0.

Win the 1-0 victory, the Cajuns have now outscored their opponents, 46-2, in the tournament.

UL scored the only run of the game, an unearned run, in the top half of the fifth inning, when Kassidy Zeringue reached on a throwing error, advanced to second base, and then scored on a two-out single off the bat of Hayley Hayden.

That was all that UL starter Kylie Jo Trahan needed, as the right-hander tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out 8 hitters in the process.

For Trahan, it was the first 7-inning shutout of her two-year career, as Louisiana outhit Samford, 4-1.

Trahan recorded the win in the circle, improving to 1-0 on the young season, while Molly Hanson, who did not allow an earned run, fell to 1-1 with the loss.

With the victory, Louisiana improved their record to 4-0 on the season, while Samford dropped to 1-3.

The Cajuns close out play in the tournament on Sunday at noon when they face Louisiana Tech.
