BOSTON (AP) — A winter storm is sliding up the coast into New England after dropping a mix of sleet, snow and rain farther down the Eastern seaboard.

Snow is falling across the region and a winter storm warning is in effect in Boston until 7 p.m. Saturday. Four to 8 inches of wet snow is expected by the time the storm moves out.

The storm left roads slushy in Philadelphia and New York City. The National Weather Service says the heaviest snowfalls were reported in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, with as much as 8 inches of snow reported in some areas by daybreak.

The National Weather Service says far northern New England could get the most snow, with 10 to 14 inches possible in eastern Maine.
