The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Divison made two more arrests this week.

Officers say the first arrest happened Tuesday night when they arrested 51-year-old Richard Minnick of Abbeville for a traffic violation, and they say they found drugs.

Police say Minnick dropped suspected marijuana on the ground as he got out of his car.

Minnick was charged with the following:

  • Possession of marijuana 3rd offense
  • Possession of crack
  • Two other outstanding narcotics warrants

In the other case, Vermilion Task Force agents arrested 30-year-old Skye Hawkins after searching his home on East Vermilion Street in Abbeville.

Police say they were investiging drug activity that was allegedly happening in that home.

Agents say their search turned up:

  • Suspected marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • A weapon
  • Suspected drug proceeds

Hawkins has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possesion with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of child
  • Possession of transactions involving drug proceeds
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
