Visit These ‘Off the Beaten Path’ Louisiana State Parks

Looking for adventure? How about visiting one of our beautiful Louisiana State Parks, that might be a little off the beaten path? Even though we have an abundance of outdoor activities, and 20 state parks, sometimes the ones that don't come first to mind are the best to visit. Less traffic, and sometimes even better places to camp, fish, hike, and play.

Only in Louisiana is reminding us of some of our 'off the beaten path' state parks worth visiting this spring and summer. I personally think that's what makes them so wonderful -  enjoy, y'all!

• Bayou Segnette State Park - salt water AND fresh water fishing - Westwego
• Chemin-a-Haut State Park - 503 acres, and a beautiful equestrian trail - Bastrop
• Grand Isle State Park - right on the Gulf of Mexico - Grand Isle
• Lake Bisteneau State Park - golf course, equestrian trails, and a 200 year old lake - Doyline
• Palmetto Island State Park - right on the Vermilion River, with 6 cabins and 95 camp sites - Abbeville
• Sam Houston Jones State Park - 1,087 acres - Lake Charles
• Bogue Chitto State Park - water playground, and golf course - Franklinton
• Lake Claiborne State Park - clear water and a beautiful sandy beach - Homer
• Toledo Bend State Parks (north and south) - reservoir known for hosting national bass fishing tournaments - Anacoco
• Fairview-Riverside State Park - on the beautiful Tchefuncte River, one of the smallest parks in the state - Madisonville
• Chicot State Park - an 8 mile canoe trail, and 20 mile hiking trail surrounded by crystal clear waters - Ville Platte
