After years of talking, a 10-week trial, and another few years of debate, Roger Clemens was found not guilty of perjury.

Was this investigation even necessary? Many believe that the government should have never been involved in the matter to begin with. Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is one of those people. In a recent interview, Mattingly stated that he felt the whole thing was a ‘waste of time’. He also added that considering all the other things wrong in the country, the resources could have been of better use in other places.

Some would argue that the investigation into Roger Clemens was a good thing. After five years of investigation, Clemens gets to walk away. The question now is what happens to his legacy? He may be innocent of perjury, but many believe he is still guilty of using some sort of performance enhancing drugs. He’ll probably never regain the popularity he once had among baseball fans.
