We do love our food here in Acadiana, and our local restaurants are simply incredible. Let's be honest, people come from all over the world for our delicious food, and we are darn proud of that!

If you've ever watched Guy Fieri's wildly popular Food Network show 'Diners, Drive-in's and Dives', you know that he features some really great local restaurants around the country, that aren't necessarily diners, drive-in's, or dives! So I wanted to share some of my favorite locally owned spots that I think should be on the show. We have a ton of great places around Acadiana, and we would love to know where your favorites are too!

  • Frosto Drive In - 228 N Avenue G, Crowley - a 50's style diner that originally opened in 1955. Homemade burgers, malts and po' boy's have been feeding generations of hungry Crowley residents. And once a month Frosto also has a Classic Car Show, or a Cruise In. Be sure to order one of their world famous malts!
  • Dwyer's Cafe - 323 Jefferson St., Lafayette - opened in 1927, this downtown Lafayette institution has been serving plate lunches, hamburgers, and homemade breakfasts to folks who love their down home comfort food with a cajun twist. Really reasonable prices and delicious food.
  • Chicken on the Bayou / The Boudin Shop - 2942 Grand Point Hwy, Henderson - really huge portions, friendly staff, and they always have cajun music playing when you walk in. I love their catfish po boy's and boiled crawfish. Be sure to call your order in before you go, because it gets really crowded really quickly here. They also have a nice selection of local products to take home with you
  • Rusted Rooster  - 105 St Landry, Lafayette - breakfast and lunch in a tiny little place that is so homey and friendly you'll want to eat here every day. All of the plates, decorations, and silverware are mis matched, and it's perfect. This neighborhood eatery takes southern cuisine to a new level. My go to breakfast is their to-die-for grits, and a fried chicken biscuit topped with local honey. Great prices, awesome local eats
  • Olde Tyme Grocery - 218 W Saint Mary Blvd., Lafayette - opened in 1982 near the campus of UL Lafayette, this is the go to spot in Lafayette for po' boys, sandwiches, and great local atmosphere. Their shrimp po' boys are legendary, and worth driving for. You don't come in as first runner up in a survey of the best po' boys in Louisiana if you're not doing something right.
