The Lafayette Police Department reports that a convenience store worker refused the demands of an armed robber this morning.

Just after midnight, a suspect went into the store in the 300 block of Verot School Road with a small revolver and wanted the clerk to turn over the man in the cash register.

After being rebuffed by the clerk, the suspect ran out of the store towards the 100 block of Rural Drive.

The suspect was described as a black man with a thin build about 6 feet tall.  He had on a black hooded sweatshirt, Nike shoes and blue jeans.

Police say it is possible that the suspect got into a late 1990's dark blue Dodge Durango.

No one was hurt during the crime.

Police are asking anyone who might have information about what happened this morning to call the Lafayette Police Department or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
