18-Wheeler Fire Snarls Lafayette Traffic

The Lafayette Fire Department and other agencies are still working to remove an 18-wheeler from Interstate 49 after it caught fire this morning.

The rig caught fire at around 7:30 this morning, and while the fire is out, the work continues to get the disabled vehicle removed from the Interstate.

This disabled 18-wheeler is on Interstate 49, just north of Interstate 10.

One lane of traffic is still open.
