Shortly after midnight, a few snow flurries fell across South Louisiana. It's the second time we've seen falling snow here along the I-10 corridor in the past month. The moderately sized flakes fell for just a few minutes and then moved on with the cold northerly breeze.

There was no noticeable accumulation, at least on our back patio this morning. The appearance of snow confirmed that the anticipated cloud cover did not clear in the overnight hours and that is good news as far as temperatures go.

Forecasters had predicted overnight low-temperature readings would be in the upper teens or lower 20-degree range. However, because of the cloud cover temperatures have remained near 30 degrees for most of the early morning hours.

How does this bit of snow compare to "The Great Blizzard of 2017" that occurred on December 8th? As you can see by the video below this morning's frozen precipitation paled considerably to that weather event of three weeks ago.
