This isn't the news we wanted to hear.

The prediction for the 2022 Hurricane Season is out and it appears that the upcoming season will be very active.

KATC Meteorologist Rob Perillo posted what the upcoming season could look like and they are predicting 19 named storms this year.

In addition to that, it is predicted that there could be ten hurricanes this season, with four major storms impacting areas of the mainland.

Like you, I too am asking why are they predicting such an active season? Well, hurricane experts say that the lack of storm-inhibiting El Niño this year is the primary reason for an active season.

In the discussion about the upcoming hurricane season it was noted, "El Nino generally increases vertical wind shear in the Atlantic, tearing apart hurricanes."

On average, we normally see 14.4 named storms in a given hurricane season, but as we just noted above, we can expect more than that for the 2022 season.
