
Alabama Tops Preseason Coaches Poll/LSU #12
The Alabama Crimson Tide is ranked number one, in the college football preseason coaches poll, which was released on Thursday.
Alabama, who went 14-1 last season, losing to Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship, received 49 of a possible 65 first-place votes in the poll.
Ohio St., who received 5 first-place votes, ranks second in the poll, while Florida St., who garnered 4 first-place votes, is third.
Alabama and Florida St., who are #1 and #3, respectively, open their respective seasons against each other, on September 2.
USC sits at number four, with Clemson, the defending national champions, tallying 7 first-place votes, at number five.
Rounding out the top ten is Penn St., Washington, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Wisconsin, at 6-10, respectively.
Oklahoma St. begins the second ten, with the LSU Tigers at #12.
LSU, who went 8-4 a season ago, begins their first full season under head coach Ed Orgeron on September 2, when they face BYU.
Auburn, Stanford, and Georgia are in spots 13-15.
Florida, Louisville, Miami, Kansas St., and West Virginia rank 16-20, while South Florida, Virginia Tech, Texas, Tennessee, and Utah round out the poll, at 21-25, respectively.
