The Lafayette Parish School district says students are safe on campus this morning after a threat was made by a fellow student during an incident yesterday. It's a busy day on campus as the school year is wrapping up and finals are underway. A district official says the incident happened in the early afternoon on Wednesday and some "concerning" comments were made.  The student has not been identified, but the official says that student has been suspended from campus today and tomorrow. The student's guardian has been made aware and knows that local law enforcement is involved.

Several Carencro High School parents called into the KPEL newsroom after the story spread quickly among students on social media. The district says two school resources officers who are normally assigned to the school are on campus this morning. There were reports of extra officers on campus this morning, but that is not true according to school administration. They say a traffic crash near the school early this morning blocked traffic from some time and officers were on the scene to investigate.

We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
