Breaux Bridge Woman Pleads Guilty To Stealing
The Unites States Attorney Stephanie Finley says that a 66-year-old woman from Breaux Bridge has pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from a place of business in New Iberia.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Patrick Hanna heard 66-year-old Joan C. Edgar's guilty pleas this week to one count of wire fraud.
The plea shows she worked for a company in New Iberia, and there was a negotiation to buy the business. While working there as the office manager, she stole $64,860 by falsifying company documents.
When sentenced, she could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, 3 years of supervised release, and she may be required to make restitution.
A sentencing date has not yet bet set for Edgar.
