Cajun Flavors for National Donut Day
First of all, we here in Louisiana have our own version of the donut. It's called a beignet, and it is a beloved part of our culture and cuisine. It is a sweet treat made famous at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, and for almost a hundred years tourists and locals alike have spilled powdered sugar all over their clothes for the divine puffy pastry.
Today is National Donut Day, so I thought I would pass along some of my favorite flavors here in Louisiana, or ones that I would definitely like to see put on a menu somewhere.
- Creme Brulee
- King Cake
- Praline
- Praline and Bacon
- Sno Ball
- King Cake
- Doberge Cake
- Bread Pudding
- Gateau de Syrop
- Pecan Pie
- Bananas Foster
- Beignet w/ powdered sugar
- Steen's Syrup
- Chocolate with Tabasco
- Boudin stuffed - for the savory lovers
- Cracklin' Crumbs sprinkled on a hot glazed sounds divine!
