A Carencro man will be spending the next six months under house arrest for neglecting to maintain proper records and licensing for his firearms business.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley reported 33-year-old Morgan Joseph Parlow Jr. was sentenced Tuesday on one count of failure to maintain firearms inventory records.

In addition to house arrest, Parlow's sentence includes five years of probation, 600 hours of community service and a $7,500 fine. He was also ordered to forfeit approximately $100,000 worth of firearms inventory.

According to the guilty plea, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents discovered the shoddy recordkeeping while investigating Parlow for theft. Agents found incomplete sales, purchase and inventory records during a search of Parlow's home and his business, Specialties of Acadiana.

Finley said in failing to maintain the proper records, Parlow was in violation of the Gun Control Act and the National Firearms Safety Act.
