A group of students in Chicago trashed a Walmart store while they took part in the nationwide "walkout" this week.

Approximately 60 students, who were protesting gun violence in schools, went into a Walmart near the school and trashed it.

Now police are looking into the matter and hope to identify all that allegedly entered and did the damage in the store.

Some students from the school, Simeon Career Academy, told a local television station that they were disappointed in some of their fellow students. The purpose of the 17-minute walkout was to promote peace and non-violence, then this happened.

Police say that once the students are identified they will likely face misdemeanour charges and discipline from the school.

Here's a video of what happened at the Chicago Walmart.
