The U.S. Attorney's Office says 41-year-old Aaron McKinney of Shreveport, known on the street as "Dinosaur", was sentenced to ten years in prison for distribution of meth along with five years of supervised probation upon completion of his sentence.

Authorities say the sentence was handed down by a district judge for the man's charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Investigators with the government were able to get the required paperwork to monitor Dinosaur's calls and those of his fellow conspirators. They talked about acquiring meth, how much they were going to be able to get, what they were going to charge for their meth, and where they would meet to make these deals. The Drug Enforcement Agents worked the case.

According to officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office when "Dinosaur" was arrested, he admitted he was buying and selling the drug. He then pleaded guilty to the charges in July of last year, and he was sentenced Tuesday.

This arrest is part of a bigger operation that the government has been dubbed the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

According to the press release, the following are the things they are targeting as part of their efforts:

  • Gangs
  • Transitional criminal organizations
  • Money launderers
  • High-level drug traffickers

Officials say that they work with partners on all levels of government including local law enforcement, state enforcement officials, and other federal agencies
