If you are like me, you try to re purpose and reuse as much as possible. This can be challenging, but when you get into a pattern of recycling, the rewards are enormous. Personal and for our Mother Earth!

MSN Lifestyle is telling us about some of the every day items that you can re use, and what you can do with them, and I'm so excited to try some of these! Check out the list below, and be sure to give us some of your tips for re inventing household items as well.

  • Citrus Peels - candied peels, or use the zest for a gourmet touch to your dishes
  • Wood Ash - fireplace leftovers can be sprinkled on your lawn or tomato plants
  • Old Tee Shirts - dusting, washing cars, headbands
  • Toilet Paper Rolls - biodegradable starter pots for seedling, or wrapping cords
  • Coffee Grinds - compost, or use as a body scrub
  • Egg Cartons - use for Christmas tree ornament storage
  • Egg Shells - add to your coffee grinds for a less bitter taste, use in gardens as a pest repellent
  • Wine Bottles - candlestick holders, DIY vinegar and oil containers
  • Watermelon Rind - use for delish pickles
  • Food Tins - recycle for herbs and small amounts of seasonings
  • Dryer Lint - use as fire starter
  • Old Herbs - make herb butter, or as a flavoring for oils
  • Plastic Jugs - cut, they make a handy scoop or shovel
  • Wine Crates - herb boxes or flower planters
  • Bones - homemade stock for soups or stews
  • Old Toothbrushes - clean your bathroom tile, hair dye applicator
  • Packing Materials - drainage for potted plants, wrap around hangars for extra padding
  • Stale Bread - croutons
  • Clay Pots - makeup containers, great for salsa or guacamole on your table
