A sobriety checkpoint is happening Thursday, March 23 in Lafayette. Police say the OWI Checkpoint will happen between 9 pm and 3 am within the incorporated limits of Lafayette.

"The purpose of the checkpoint is to target impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or any other dangerous substance," says LPD spokesman Corporal Karl Ratcliff. "Officers working the checkpoint will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found to be under the influence."

It's simple: if you plan on drinking, make sure you designate a driver.
