It was all going according to plan.

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns had a 5-1 lead heading into the ninth inning against Georgia Southern, but Logan Baldwin's grand slam home run turned the Cajuns' dream of a trip to the Sun Belt semifinals into a nightmare.

It took extra innings, but Jordan Wren's eleventh inning double was the game winner as the Eagles bounced the Cajuns from the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with a 7-6 win, sending the #5 seeded Eagles into a semifinal matchup with Texas State.

The Cajuns (35-21-1) rode the pitching of Gunner Leger to a 5-1 lead going into the eighth inning and Wyatt Marks struck out the side in the eighth.  But Georgia Southern (37-20) broke through in the ninth against Cajuns' relief specialist Dylan Moore.  Two walks and a single loaded the bases and Evan McDonald's single made it a 5-2 game.  Reliever Colton Schmidt then struck out Steven Curry, but Baldwin launched a shot down the right field line that cleared the wall in right field off Colton Schmidt to give the Eagles a 6-5 lead.

Louisiana tied it in the bottom of the inning when McDonald booted Alex Pinero's bases loaded grounder, allowing Joe Robbins to tie the score.  But the Eagles broke through in the eleventh inning against Evan Guillory (4-3) when Baldwin singled and was sacrificed to second.  An intentional walk put runners at first and second and Jordan Wren greeted Jevin Huval with a double in the gap in right center for the game winner.

Freshman Seth Shuman (8-0) then retired the Cajuns in order in the bottom of the inning to preserve the win.

The Cajuns got a run scoring single from Kennon Fontenot for an early 1-0 lead and extended the lead in the third on a two run homer by Handsome Monica.  After a solo homer by Thomas Davis in the fourth, the Cajuns extended the lead on a homer by Brad Antchak and an RBI single by Brenn Conrad before the Eagles' rally.

Leger went seven innings. allowing six hits and one run.  He did not allow a walk and struck out seven.  Marks allowed just a walk with three strikeouts, giving him 100 strikeouts for the season.
