St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers has once again successfully landed another criminal in jail.

Maj Eddie Thibodeaux said this time 45-year-old Chadrick Lavergne was arrested for stealing an elderly woman's life savings totaling more than $100,000.

On December 3, the woman reported someone broke into her house and stole the large sum of cash.

After Crime Stoppers reported the case, it was learned through a tipster that the suspect was familiar with the victim and that the money was used at local casinos and to buy a sports car and illegal drugs.

Lavergne was arrested upon a return trip to a Lake Charles Casino, before being extradited to St. Landry Parish.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the theft. He was booked for Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling. His bond was set at $120-thousand dollars.

Thibodeaux said more arrests are expected.
