The Queen's Parade is set to roll at 6:00 p.m. tonight in Lafayette. And, the family of fallen officer Corporal Michael Middlebrook will be leading it.

Lafayette Police Chief Toby Aguillard made the announcement today, as the Middlebrook family will be joining him and Deputy Chief Reginald Thomas in leading the event. Also, Sheriff Mark Garber, Chief David Anderson, Chief Ricky Boudreaux and Scott Police Chief Chad Leger will be escorting the Middlebrook family while riding their police motorcycles.

ROUTE

  • Parade will start at Jefferson Boulevard and Simcoe Street. It will travel to Jefferson and Chestnut Street and turn right onto Chestnut Street and proceed to Third Street. It will turn left onto Third Street. Third Street changes into West Congress Street. The parade will continue on West Congress Street to Lafayette Street. It will turn left at Lafayette Street. It will continue on Lafayette Street and turn left onto West Vermilion Street towards Johnston Street. It will turn right on Johnston Street and travel south until it reaches South College Road. It will turn right onto North College Road and go to Gate one at Cajun Field. It will go into Cajun Field, ending near Gate five.

STREET CLOSURES

  • Jefferson Boulevard and Simcoe Street to Jefferson Boulevard to East Cypress Street (underpass) will be closed from Monday night until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Surrey Street from Louisiana Avenue to Jefferson Boulevard will be closed at about 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
  • Also, the following will be closed at 5:00 p.m. and remain closed until the parade is complete: Jefferson Boulevard from Simcoe to Chestnut Streets; Johnston Street from East Convent Street to Cajundome Boulevard; East Third from South Pierce to the Evangeline Thruway.
