There was fire on the porch of a home on Carmel Drive yesterday evening, and thankfully Lafayette Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says no one was injured.

The family next door, a mother and her three kids, are now out of their home as the fire at the home at 2226 Carmel Drive spread to their home.

Officials had to remove the electrical meter from the home meaning the family is out of their home until it can be fixed.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, and there was severe fire damage at the front porch of the first home where the flames started.
