Food Distribution For Lafayette School Children Continues

Meal box distribution will be an option for Lafayette Parish Public School System students through the end of the year according to a press release from LPSS.

The supplemental nutrition program will help meet the needs of students who are food insecure.

Parents who wish for their children to receive the food do need to register to be part of the program even if they already registered for the program that was offered over the spring break. This registration will then be valued for the remainder of the school year. Once registered, parents will not need to reregister their students again through the end of the year.

There will be three sites that will begin meal distribution starting this Saturday, May the 1st, and they include the following schools:

Alice Boucher Elementary School which is located at 400 Patterson Street
Acadiana High School which is located at 315 Rue de Belier
Live Oak Elementary which is located at 3020 North University

Students in any Lafayette Parish Public School can pick up from any of the locations, but registration is required by visiting https://focusfoods.org/registerlafayetteparish.com.

One more location will also be a pickup spot, and it will start on Saturday, May 8th at Southside High School which is located at 312 Almonaster Road in Youngsville.

Any student in the system who is 18-years-old and younger is eligible to sign up.
