Former LSU head basketball coach Johnny Jones has a new head coaching job.

A native of DeRidder, Jones played at LSU from 1980-1984, and later served 12 seasons as an assistant coach for the Tigers under Dale Brown.

For 11 seasons (2002-2012), Jones served as the head coach at North Texas, guiding the Mean Green to an overall record of 190-146, and two trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Jones was the head coach at LSU for five seasons (2013-2017), accumulating an overall record of 90-72, while leading the Tigers to one trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Jones replaces Mike Davis, who left Texas Southern for Detroit Mercy, after guiding the Tigers to four NCAA Tournament berths in four of the last five seasons.
