High School Football Power Ratings – Week 9
The latest LHSAA high school football power rankings are out.
Many Acadiana area schools look to be in good shape, following the completion of week 9 of their respective schedules, with now only one week remaining in the regular season.
Keep in mind, 32 teams qualify for the playoffs in each of the Non-Select divisions, while the Select divisions will feature a different numbers of teams in their respective brackets.
We'll begin with the Non-Select Division.
In Class 5A, Acadiana, following their bye week last week, is at #2 in this week's power ratings.
Comeaux is currently the only other local school in the top 32, at #29, and looks to be in good shape for a potential playoff spot.
Sitting outside of the top 32 is New Iberia at #39, while Lafayette High is at #48.

In Class 4A, Rayne is the highest rated local team this week, at #8, with Cecilia (#16), Westgate (#23), Carencro (#25), Breaux Bridge (#27), St. Martinville (#31), and Opelousas (#32) also in the top 32.
Outside of the top 32 are Beau Chene (#37) and Northside (#41).

In Class 3A, Church Point is the highest rated local team this week, at #5, but a number of other Acadiana area schools are in the top 32, including Kaplan (#6), Northwest (#13), Iota (#14), Eunice (#20), Crowley (#22), and North Vermilion (#24).
Currently outside of the top 32 are Pine Prairie (#35), Abbeville (#36), Erath (#39), Mamou (#42), and Port Barre (#48).

In Class 2A, Jeanerette is the highest rated local team this week, at #26, with Loreauville and Ville Platte right behind, at #28 and #29, respectively.
Outside of the top 32 this week are Franklin (#37) and Delcambre (#41).

Wrapping up the Non-Select divisions, we go to Class 1A, where Gueydan (#26) and North Central (#27) are fighting for seeding in the state playoffs.

Now, we move we move on to the Select divisions.
In Division I, there are no local teams, but view this week's ratings, here.
In Division II, St. Thomas More, at #4, is the highest rated local team this week, while Teurlings checks in at #7.

In Division III, Notre Dame tops the ratings this week, with Catholic-New Iberia #3, and Ascension Episcopal at #8.

Finally, in Division IV, where 16 teams make the playoffs, Vermilion Catholic is the top-rated team from the area this week, at #2, with Opelousas Catholic at #4, St. Edmund at #6, Lafayette Christian at #6, and Sacred Heart of Ville Platte at #7.
Outside of the top 16 are Hanson Memorial (#17), Highland Baptist (#19), and Westminster Christian (#21).
