SWLA Weekend Forecast: The Heat Is Back and It’s Not Letting Up

KNGT | Lake Charles, LA —  Alright y’all… welcome back to another Cajun Weekend Weather Report, and I’m gonna save you some time this week.

It's gonna be HOT. Not "stand outside for a few minutes" hot. Not "maybe grab a bottle of water" hot. I'm talking Southwest Louisiana summertime hot. The kind where you break a sweat walking to the mailbox.

According to the Weather Channel, we're looking at highs around 90 to 91 degrees all weekend long, with overnight lows staying around 79. That's right... it ain't even cooling off much at night anymore. Summer has officially unpacked its bags.

Friday
Friday kicks things off with a high near 90 and about a 47% chance of rain. That means we might see one of those classic afternoon thunderstorms pop up. You know the kind. The sun's shining, birds are chirping, then suddenly the sky turns dark and everybody starts checking their weather apps. The rain won't last long if it shows up, but it'll probably make things even steamier afterward. This is definitely "grab an extra bag of ice for the beer" weather. Actually... make it two.

Saturday
Saturday looks a little better with only a 24% chance of rain. Temps stay right around 90. This might be the best day of the weekend if you've got outdoor plans. Fishing, cookouts, ball games, mowing the grass, whatever you've got planned... Saturday is probably your winner. Just remember to stay hydrated. Nobody wants to become the headline of the next weather report.

Sunday
Sunday turns the heat up another notch with a high around 91. Rain chances stay low, but honestly, at this point the heat is the bigger story. This is "find some shade" weather. This is "sit under the patio fan" weather. This is "why is my truck seat trying to cook me?" weather. If you're spending time outside Sunday, sunscreen better be part of the game plan. So here's the official Cajun Weekend Weather Report game plan:

Friday: Hot with a chance of storms.
Saturday: Hot and probably the nicest day.
Sunday: Hotter than a two-dollar pistol.

Keep the cooler full. Keep the sunscreen handy. Keep plenty of water nearby. And if somebody offers you a seat under a fan this weekend... don't be proud. Take it.
