KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — Alright y’all… welcome back to another Cajun Weekend Weather Report, and this one comes with a little warning…If you're celebrating the Fourth of July outside this weekend, don't leave home without two things...An umbrella... and a cooler full of ice.

According to the Weather Channel, Southwest Louisiana is in for a classic Independence Day weekend. It'll be hot, humid, and we'll have those pop-up afternoon thunderstorms that seem to show up just in time to interrupt the fun.

4th of July Cajun Weekend Weather Report

Friday
Let's get the holiday weekend started, highs around 92 degrees and a 60% chance of the wet stuff. Morning time is looking magical. Then around lunchtime... here comes that big gray cloud rolling in. The good news? These storms usually don't stick around all day. The bad news? They'll show up right when somebody's trying to light the grill. On the Ice Scale i'd say with the heat and humidity, get an extra sack for the cooler.

Saturday
Saturday is the Fourth of July, and honestly... the weather is about as Louisiana as it gets. High around 92, mostly sunny early, then scattered thunderstorms developing later in the day. If you've got fireworks, a family barbecue, or plans on the water, my advice is simple...Do everything a little earlier if you can. The afternoon is when those storms are most likely to pop up. Hopefully they move through before the fireworks start flying. If not... well... we've all watched fireworks from under a carport before.

Sunday
Sunday wraps up the holiday weekend with... you guessed it...More heat and another chance of afternoon storms. High around 92, warm all day, and a little breeze that probably won't do much besides move the humidity around. Sunscreen is going to need to be applied often. The UV Index is chart topping as well.

So here's the official game plan for your Fourth of July weekend...Get outside early. Keep one eye on the sky. Keep the cooler full. Drink plenty of water between the cold ones. And if those afternoon storms roll through... just laugh about it. Because around here, a little rain has never stopped us from celebrating.

That's your Cajun Weekend Weather Report. We ain't just telling you what the weather's doing... we're helping y'all survive another Southwest Louisiana summer, one weekend at a time. Happy Fourth of July, y'all! Stay safe, stay cool, and enjoy every minute of it.

Do Not Leave These Things in Your Hot Car in Louisiana & Texas

While you would expect most of this to be general knowledge, you'd be amazed how many people found out the hard way that there are some things you should never leave in a hot vehicle. Since we're knee-deep into another hot summer, it's worth mentioning to those who don't know.
