McVey’s Seafood Crawfish Boil-Off Set For May In Lake Charles

If you live in Louisiana, one of your favorite times of the year is crawfish season. We all love to boil them while listening to great music and having a beer or two with friends and family. it's just a way of life here in South Louisiana.

Can you boil some crawfish? Do you think the boiled crawfish you cook is the best? Want to prove it? Now you can as the annual McVey’s Seafood Crawfish Boil-Off is back and will take place May 2025 in Lake Charles.

This annual cook-off pits teams against each other boiling up those delicious crustaceans while teams and eventgoers enjoy some great live Cajun and Country music all day long.

So what is the McVey’s Seafood Crawfish Boil-Off you ask? Sara McVey Leger gave us the details. Here is how to enter your team and what will be going on that day. 

The McVey’s Seafood Crawfish Boil-Off will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm at Mary’s Lounge which is located at 4017 Broad Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

How do you get your team entered? Sara said,

Teams consist of 3 people and the entry fee is $250. You are allowed to have up to five people on your team and you can add the other two people for $50 per team member up to five which would make the entry fee $350 entry fee for a five-person team.

Entry Fee Includes:

• Three sacks of crawfish
• T-Shirt & Koozie for each team member

For teams cooking, the day will play out like this:

• Registration & Setup 9:00 am to 11:00 am
• Crawfish ready for judging 2:00 pm (judging 2:00 pm-4:15 pm)
• Crawfish eating competition 4:30 pm
• Winners Announced at 5:00 pm
