New Orleans Saints Set for 2025 NFL Draft, What You Need To Know
KNGT-FM - The New Orleans Saints are getting ready for the 2025 NFL Draft, and they have a total of nine picks to help rebuild their team. We have everything you need to know before the picks start rolling in...
The draft starts Thursday night, and the Saints hold the 9th overall pick in the first round. That pick is expected to happen around 8:05 p.m. Central Time, with full coverage beginning at 7 p.m. on NFL Network, ESPN, and ABC.
One of the biggest questions heading into the draft is what the Saints will do at quarterback. Derek Carr may miss time or even the season due to a possible shoulder surgery, leaving the team with some uncertainty. At least that's what Carr is saying, I do not personally anticipate Carr to be a member of the Saints when September 8th rolls around.

NFL Spinzone's Lou Scataglia recently suggested that quarterback was the biggest need on the Saints' roster ahead of the NFL Draft.
This year’s quarterback class isn’t considered very strong after top prospect Cam Ward. While there was some early talk about the Saints picking a quarterback, like Shedeur Sanders, those rumors have cooled down. Rumors started to roll on Wednesday Night that the Saints might be looking to trade back in the 1st Round of the draft for the first time in a while and potentially draft Jaxson Dart late in the 1st Round.
Some experts think New Orleans might wait for a better quarterback class in 2026, which could include Arch Manning (from New Orleans) or Garrett Nussmeier.
That strategy would mean the Saints could focus on other positions this year and possibly let someone like Spencer Rattler start in 2025. If the team struggles, it might lead to a high draft pick next year, giving them a shot at a top quarterback.
With nine picks in this year’s draft, the Saints have plenty of chances to improve their team. Whether they make a splash in 2025 or set their sights on a big move in 2026, the next few days—and the next few seasons—could be key for the future of the franchise.
This will be the first time in team history that the Saints draft from the 9th spot. It’s also their highest first-round pick since 2008, when they chose defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis with the 7th overall pick.
