Caddo Parish has just issued a complete burn ban throughout the entire parish.

Though mornings here in the Arklatex have been extremely pleasant, we've been without any significant rainfall for some time, so the notice from the Parish of Caddo Facebook page we weren't necessarily surprised by the inevitable.

In a story from KTBS.com, we got a little more insight into what brought this immediate burn ban on.

Caddo Fire District 8 Chief Joey Ryan said the declaration was made after consultation with all fire chiefs in the parish.

What Made Caddo Parish Decide To Initiate The Burn Ban?

It was the conclusion of these chiefs that due to the current extremely dry conditions and absolutely no rainfall predicted in the coming days for our area, the burn ban was deemed necessary.

The fire chiefs added that fast-moving grass and woods fires are all primed with the current low humidity and breezy conditions, so the burn ban was immediately declared for all of Caddo Parish.

Obviously, other fire officials throughout the Northwest Louisiana parishes and East Texas counties are aware of these conditions, so, while no other burn bans have been declared, those declarations are likely in the coming days.
