You might have read that effective Monday the northbound section of Airline Drive, between McElroy and Inda is set to be closed approximately ten days.

And now we receive word that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is advising motorists that also beginning on Monday, December 2, the eastbound inside (left) lane of the I-220 bridge over Cross Lake in Shreveport, Caddo Parish will be closed.

This lane closure is scheduled to be in place from December 2nd to December 5th, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day, and is necessary to allow DOTD crews to perform repairs to the bridge joints and drainage structure.

You might recall that this work was originally scheduled to be performed November 18 through November 21, but even though there was never any official notification, the work was obviously delayed until this coming week.

Motorists are urged to slow down in the work zone, eliminate distractions while driving, and never operate the vehicle while impaired.

As with all DOTD projects, this work will be performed "Weather Permitting" so inclement weather could delay, extend, or alter scheduled work days/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.

Things Louisiana Drivers Hate Most About Other Drivers

In Louisiana the roads are already bad enough. We don't need other drivers adding to our "road rage" potential. Just don't do these things and you'll stay off our "list". It's the biggest pet peeves of drivers in the whole state.
