
DNA Breakthrough Solves Texas Murder From 2020
(Arlington, Texas) Recently there was a DNA breakthrough that took place regarding a murder case from 2020 in Arlington, Texas and a suspect has now been arrested. And it sounds like the suspect is who police had suspected all along.
Details Regarding the Murder from 2020
According to NBCDFW, Evan Lacey was only 19 years old when he went missing back in 2020. In January 2020 his body was discovered by some utility workers in Mansfield, Texas working on Webb Ferrell Road. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to his head.
According to cell phone data at the time, Lacey was with then 17-year-old Darnell Jones the night he disappeared.

Police Discovered Lacey’s Car Covered in Blood
According to law enforcement, it was four days after Lacey went missing that police found his car abandoned, although the interior was covered in blood. At the time Jones’ DNA was not matched to the crime scene within Lacey’s vehicle.
Lacey’s family begged for the killer to admit to the crime, and police kept working the case for five years until there was a breakthrough.

New Company Used Blood from the Crime Scene
Law enforcement wanted to solve this crime and after meeting with a company that did DNA research, they analyzed blood from the crime scene and were able to match the DNA inside the car to Jones.
After the DNA match was confirmed, police in Chicago tracked down Jones, and he was arrested and charged with murder.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
