Texans Now Aware the Sinaloa Cartel Is Targeting Trains
If you ask most people in Texas about a train heist, they will say that sounds like something out of an old movie or television show. But law enforcement is saying that it still happens, and the Sinaloa cartel is making a hobby out of this crime.
Sinaloa Cartel Targeting Trains for Merchandise
According to KXAN, recently there were eleven men that were arrested in connection with a theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of Nike shoes from a BNSF train.
The man somehow cut the air brakes on the train as it was traveling on it’s route north of Phoenix. Once the brake system air hose is cut, the train goes into an emergency stop.

They make their way on board the train while it’s moving, and quickly go after as many electronics, tools, and footwear as possible.
Tools Used to Commit the Trains Robberies
These cartel members have all the tools they need when committing these crimes such as metal-cutting saws, bolt cutters, and other tools to get past locks.
Other Cartel Members Pick Up the Merchandise
After offloading the merchandise into the brush, the cartel members notify others to pick up the stuff as they quickly get away from the train as they know law enforcement will be there soon.
The cartels will often sell the stolen goods on Amazon or eBay or other digital platforms according to law enforcement.
Police have even started putting tracking devices in some loads just in case they are targeted, they can follow the stolen goods wherever the criminals decide to take them.
Court dates are pending for the eleven men arrested, as the investigation is still on-going.
