Lubbock Facebook Group Looks To File Suit Over Texxas Fest/Tacos And Tequila Tickets
Lubbock rockers are mad as hell and they're not about to take it.
Lubbock Residents Feel They Were Ripped Off By Concert Promoter
There are a number of people in the Hub City and elsewhere that claim they never received a refund for the cancelled TexxasFest/Tacos And Tequila Concerts. We can't independently verify that they've taken all of the proper steps to received refunds from Maximus Concerts, but it sure seems like there's enough out there for the issue to be taken seriously.
Lubbock's Concert History
Let's jump back to the beginning. In the early days of concert promotion, it wasn't common, but not unheard of, for concert promoters to run off with the money and/or change the bill so much that you're not getting what you're paid for. Being a bit of a veteran of concert wars we took a wait and see approach to these events. As you can see from TexxasFests on social media, FMX was not an official partner for these events. You will see our logo on the announcement for year one, but we told them to remove it immediately.

It Looked Like Tacos And Tequila Was Going To Stick Around In Lubbock
It looked like TexxasFest was actually going to turn the corner and be a credible concert promoter for Lubbock after the successful Incubus show. After all, that show was supposed to be the FMX Birthday Bash, but due to some behind the scenes machinations, it was outbid and taken over by Maximus. It's okay, all's fair in concert promotion. Anyhow, some cracks started appearing in year three. I can't prove it, but some of these cracks seem to have started when someone local who knew a member of one of the bands actually talked to the band member who said, "We're not doing that show". After that, things went downhill quickly.
Lubbock Residents Want Their Money Back From Texxasfest
So how do concert fans get thier money back? Well, that's a tough question because so many people paid in so many different ways. In general, you should report this to your credit card company. You may not get satisfaction, but may at least prevent this thing from happening to future concert goers. You may want to reach out to See Tickets/Eventim who was responsible for online sales. You could join with the others on the Facebook group who may find a way to seek satisfaction. Most of all, be persistent and maybe a road to refunds will present itself.
Final Notes On Concerts In Lubbock
Lastly, don't believe that b.s. about the Amphitheater being in disrepair. It's certainly seen some wear and tear but things were turning around and concerns were being addressed. This promoter, after cancelling this show went scorched earth because he wasn't able to pull off this show. It's not the venues vault, it all falls squarely on the shoulders of the promoter who left town, apparently with everyone's money.
