LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier Announces His Future in Louisiana
BATON ROUGE, LA
LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier posted a video on his social media pages to announce that he’s returning next season for his final year of eligibility.
God brought me to LSU for a reason. I had to observe and trust in His timing and His plan for me time and time again. I stayed at LSU because of that reason, and again, I feel that my time at LSU is not over.
Tiger Rag Magazine Editor Todd Horne says the fact that Nussmeier is returning to LSU next season is not a surprise.
What is surprising is that it took Garrett this long to actually make the announcement. Everybody kind of assumed that he was coming back.
Horne says it’s possible that Nussmeier was negotiating his NIL deal for his senior year – and that he likely got some good advice from someone very close to him who knows what he’s talking about.
His dad is an NFL quarterbacks coach, and has been an NFL coach for years and I'm sure he advised him that he would benefit greatly by coming back to LSU for another year. Of course he'll be looking for that 'second year leap' just like Joe Burrows and Jayden Daniels had before him.
One of Nussmeier's favorite targets, standout tight-end Mason Taylor announced he will be declaring for the upcoming NFL draft.
Nussmeier led the Tigers to an 8-and-4 regular season, and they will be facing Baylor in the Texas Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
