Shreveport Police Arrest Man in Wheelchair Waving a Gun Around
Shreveport Police got a wild call last Friday evening from Downtown Shreveport.
Witnesses were saying that a man in a wheelchair wearing all orange was waving and pointing a handgun around near Texas Street. SPD was able to quickly find Trendell Wings. Police searched Wings and they were able to find the handgun tucked in to his waistband.
Police checked nearby cameras and were able to determine that Wings had absolutely waved and pointed the gun at several people. Looking in to Wings further, SPD found out that Wings was a convicted felon and was not suppose to have a gun in the first place.
Wings was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
From SPD:
"Thanks to the officers’ rapid response, a potentially dangerous situation was de-escalated before anyone was harmed.
The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to keeping our community safe and preventing violent incidents before they occur."
