Tre White Returns: Bills Bring Back Shreveport Native on New Deal
It's hard not to root for Shreveport native Tre White. He's a good dude that does a lot of work in every community he touches including right here in Shreveport-Bossier, he's absolutely hilarious and, when he's healthy, he's one of the best defensive backs in the National Football League. His nickname is "Takeaway Tre" for a reason. At Green Oaks, at LSU, at the NFL level, Tre has been dominant. He's a two-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All-Pro. In short - the guy is an absolute beast. Which is why I was so pumped to see him sign a new deal with Bills.
Bills Reunite With Shreveport Native Tre White
As good as Tre can be, the last few years have been anything but kind to him. He tore his ACL in 2021. Only played in 6 games in 2022 while trying to recover from that injury. Then, in 2023, he tore his Achilles just 4 games into the season.
Last year, he spent most of the season trying to regain his All-Pro form with the Rams & Ravens. While he didn't perform well in LA, he looked pretty good once he got to Baltimore. He played 7 games for the Ravens and looked more like the Tre White we're all used to seeing on the Football field, recording 10 tackles and 3 pass breakups while only playing about 35% of the snaps.

The return to form has been a long and grueling journey. But the Bills are offering him a great opportunity. The Bills need help in the secondary. Tre needs a job. So, these two getting back together could be a good thing for both sides. He knows the defense. Because of the recent injury history, he's relatively cheap for a veteran with his stats. And, if he can get back to 85% of what he was, he's going to have a major impact on the Bills defense. So, lots of upside here with very few drawbacks.
According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the two sides agreed on a one year deal that is worth up to $6.8 million.

How Can You Not Root For Tre?
Whether you know Tre from Green Oaks, LSU or just seeing him at a Mudbugs game, it's hard not to root for the guy. He's hilarious. He's got a great personality. He's just an all around good dude.
Nothing proves this more than the "Tre White Goalie Academy of Louisiana at Buffalo". What started out as a joke between teammates at a Sabers game became a full blown skit that was embraced by fans, hockey players and every one else. He even made it apart of his televised introductions on National TV!
The man's smile is infectious. He has a great personality. And, did I mention he's pretty good at football? He is a two time Pro Bowler and All-Pro.
