LSU Baseball Lands Veteran Florida Transfer Cade Kurland
The LSU Tigers baseball team just scored a transfer from inside the SEC.
Last year, the LSU baseball program entered the season relying heavily on their crazy shopping spree from inside the transfer portal. They used big names from around the country to fill out their roster, hoping to be competitive for another run at the National Championship.

However...that strategy failed to yield the intended results on the field, as the team struggled against both SEC and non-conference opponents. Finishing the season just barley above .500 overall, and with a 9-21 record in the SEC...considered a disaster by many.
The lack of overall success led to the team missing the NCAA Tournament entirely for the season. The coaching staff is now reassessing their roster construction, and running it back in the transfer portal to try and secure players that will be capable of fundamentally changing the trajectory of the program.
Tigers Secure Veteran SEC Infield Transfer
The strategy for the current offseason involves targeting proven college baseball talent, with extensive playing experience against high-level competition. What better high-level competition can a new transfer face than other SEC teams?
This calculated approach has materialized with the addition of former Florida Gators infielder Cade Kurland. The former Florida infielder has officially announced his decision to transfer to Baton Rouge.
Kurland brings an established veteran presence to the LSU infield. He spent the last four seasons competing against SEC teams, including LSU. His addition addresses the need for reliable infield defense, and experienced at bats against SEC pitching staffs.
Additional Roster Acquisitions From The Transfer Portal
The coaching staff has actively expanded their portal search beyond the SEC to secure highly rated players from other collegiate conferences. The most notable addition is former Notre Dame outfielder Bino Watters...who entered the offseason ranked as the top portal prospect in the nation.
The team also secured commitments from former Texas State infielder Dawson Park, and former Gonzaga pitcher Landon Hood. The Tigers coaching staff, and fans, are hoping this crop of transfer portal talent pays off better than last year's haul.
