Ex-Texas Juco Standout Jimmy Butler Lands with West Coast Team
The NBA Trade Deadline has officially come to an end and while we know about the now shocking trade of Luka Doncic to The Lakers which sent fans into an uproar, but another trade has opened eyes all across the basketball world.
NBA star Jimmy Butler was born and raised in Houston and scrapped and clawed his way into the NBA and along the way, made a stop to Tyler Junior College where back in December 2024, he blessed the team with new uniforms and shoes as part of his endorsement deal with Li Ning.
He's now headed to the West Coast after being traded from Miami.
The former Tyler Junior College standout is leaving Miami and headed to the Golden State Warriors as part of a multiteam megadeal according to ESPN.
The trade comes after Butler and the Heat ended their nasty divorce which saw suspended Butler three times this season, twice for conduct detrimental to the team and once after he missed a team flight.
His most recent suspension began on Jan. 27 after he left shootaround following news that he would be coming off the bench for Miami's next game. The Heat announced that the indefinite suspension would last at least five games, which took things up to Thursday's deadline.
Butler has a history of messy exits after previously forcing his way out of the Chicago Bulls and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Over six seasons in Miami, Butler led the Heat to the playoffs in each of his first five, with three trips to the Eastern Conference finals and two NBA Finals appearances.
Butler was named to two All-Star teams and made three appearances on All-NBA teams as a member of the Heat. He now finds himself paired with one of the best shooters in the game with Steph Curry and a coach known for dealing with big egos and "problem stars" in Steve Kerr.
