Captured: Wanted Texas Fugitive Arrested After Fleeing the State
The Texas Department of Public Safety recently announced that they finally caught someone on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list who was wanted out of Abilene since 2024.
Who Was Texas DPS' Recent Arrest?
35-year-old Raymond Lee Trejo was captured on March 12 in Stilwell, Oklahoma by multiple agencies, including Texas DPS, the Special Applications Branch of the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Stilwell Police Department.
Why was Raymond Trejo wanted out of Texas?
Texas DPS posted information on Trejo's arrest to Facebook:
The 35-year-old was wanted out of Taylor County since May 2024 for "failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements," according to Texas DPS.
This stemmed from an incident in 2009 where Trejo was convicted of sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl, when Trejo was about 19 years old. After this conviction, he was sent to a Texas prison to serve 10 years.
Trejo's criminal history also includes the following charges:
- Sexual Assault
- Fail to Comply Sex Offender Duty to Register
- Assault Causes Bodily Injury
- Driving While License Invalid
All Thanks to Texas Crime Stoppers
Trejo's arrest is due to efforts taken by Texas Crime Stoppers from the Governor's Public Safety Office. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to anyone who has information that could lead to the arrest of any fugitive included in the Top 10 Most Wanted list.
This incentive has lead to the arrest of 16 fugitives, sex offenders, and others so far in 2025 alone.
