The University of Texas has stated that they are moving towards banning all drag shows on campus after pressure from Texas lawmakers to comply with President Trump's Executive Order on defending women from "gender ideology extremism."

What a Drag... White House's Views on Gender Identity

The order highlights the administration's fight for keeping biological men from women's spaces, and vice-versa. The White House establishes a division between sex and gender identity, and they offer interpretation of both provided sexes, including "sex", "women", "girls", and "boys."

In the wake of this establishment, Texas college campuses have begun to shift their policies on such gender-focused displays like drag shows. Texas A&M was the first to prevent these events from happening on campus grounds.

The University of Texas is the next in line as Board of Regents Chairman Kevin P. Eltife stated that drag shows will not be held at their public university which would ultimately be paid for by taxpayers.

How Popular is This Decision to Ban Drag Shows on Texas Campuses?

Also, before the decision is finalized, Tarrant County Judge Tim O'Hare recently sent a letter to UT urging the Board of Regents to implement a ban on drag shows.

Within the letter, O'Hare cites President Trump's Executive Order from Jan. 20 which read, "federal funds shall not be used to promote gender ideology." He also references Texas A&M's decision to ban drag shows, calling it "encouraging" to see Texas universities complying with Executive Orders.

Feedback from O'Hare's letter was... mixed, to say the least. On one hand, you have those who support the decision and agree that UT should move ahead with a campus-wide ban of drag shows. Others are not as supportive.

I went ahead and left out the colorful replies...

So, what do you think? Is this a good move from UT by adhering to White House policies and urges from Texas lawmakers? Or do you feel this is a needless war when there are other more pressing matters at hand?
