The broadcast industry in Lafayette, Louisiana is mourning the loss of one of their own.

KLFY News 10 announced the passing of one of their former employees, Ed Marshall.

Marshall died after a short battle with an illness, and sadly he was just 67 years old. Ed Marshall was the first Black news reporter in Acadiana and was known for his investigative stories while at KLFY.

You may recall watching and hearing about "Contact 10" and that was his segment where he investigated concerns from those in the Acadiana region.

News 10 says that Marshall was employed at TV 10 from 1978 to 1989.

Following his days in the broadcasting, Ed Marshall got into the business world and started his own Public Relations firm. And while he may have signed off full-time from television, he still did appear on various television shows in New Orleans to discuss money and economics.

The legendary broadcaster was loved and respected by many he worked with and he will be missed by many in Acadiana.

Ed Marshall is survived by his wife, Carmella, and daughter, Kristina. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
