A Listeria outbreak being investigated for potentially causing 17 illnesses and four deaths has been linked to chicken alfredo ready-to-heat meals sold at Walmart and Kroger stores in Louisiana, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Which Chicken Alfredo Products Are Being Recalled?

According to the USDA, FreshRealm is recalling certain Marketside products and a Home Chef-branded product. The products are sold at Louisiana Walmart and Kroger locations as follows:

Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine 12.3 ounce tray with the best-by date 06/26/25 or before.

Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine 32.8 ounce tray with the best-by date 06/27/25 or before.

Home Chef Heat & Eat Chicken Alfredo 12.5 ounce tray with best-by date 06/19/25 or before.

The USDA says the packages will bear their USDA inspection mark, and one of the following numbers on the side of the packaging:

What Should You Do If You Have One Of These Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Packages?

According to officials with the USDA, the products should be thrown away in the trash. If you have proof of purchase, you can return the item to the place where it was purchased.

Officials are asking everyone, including retailers, distributors, and restaurants, to check their refrigerators and freezers for these products. Again, the items should not be consumed, but they should be thrown away.

Food Safety News says illness from Listeria can mimic other diseases, and it must be diagnosed through testing.
