10 Great Louisiana Easter Basket Stuffers That Aren’t Candy
As holidays in Louisiana go, Easter is one of the quieter ones in the state. Maybe it's our Catholic reverence for the symbolism and meaning of the season, or maybe we're still just a little hungover from St Patrick's Day or Mardi Gras. For some reason, folks just seem to get along better at Easter than they do over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Maybe it is the peace of the season or the fact that we can get outside and go do things in the warmer weather. Maybe that's the reason. Because the weather is nicer around Easter than it is around Thanksgiving and Christmas we can spread out a little bit more. Maybe we need that distance to stay civil.
There's Not as Much Pressure at Easter
Sociologists will tell you that the holiday season is one of the more stressful times to be a human in the United States. However, the pressure to "perform" as in gift giving, visiting, staying sober, and generally not acting the donkey is less at Easter. Maybe it's because the Easter Holiday is Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday, only three days folks don't feel as pressured to make a cross-country journey.
