LAFAYETTE/BROUSSARD, La. - The business landscape in the Acadiana area is ever evolving. It seems every week there are new places opening and, unfortunately, others that are closing for good.

We've rounded up a few of the latest comings and goings and have that news here.

Pogie's Pour House Surprises Broussard with a New Location

Let's start with good news. The new Pogie's Pour House in Broussard is now open. The new location at 226 St. Nazaire Road (formerly Yabbos) appears to have made a bit of a surprise opening this past Saturday, May 9.

Pogie's is known for its wide variety of daiquiris along with a full service bar, and this location also does boiled crawfish. The original Pogie's Pour House in Carencro has been open since early 2014 and has had great success over the years.

Broussard's Boiling Pot Permanently Closes After Three Years

On the other end of the spectrum, Broussard's Boiling Pot announced recently that they've made the tough decision to close their doors. In a Facebook post, the owner wrote, "I personally would like to thank all of our customers, vendors and employees for becoming a part of my family."

The restaurant was open for three years, located at 158 Heritage Parkway. The menu featured boiled seafood, oysters, poboys, salads, seasonal live crawfish and sides.

We wish the owner, staff, and everyone associated with the restaurant the best of luck in their future endeavors.

Noah's Café Closed by Court Order Over Unpaid Lafayette Parish Sales Tax

Finally, a restaurant in Lafayette that has been closed for the past few weeks has a questionable future. Noah's Café, a beloved plate lunch hotspot, located at 2310 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, has been closed for a specific reason. The owners appear to be behind in paying their parish sales tax.

Several pictures over the last couple of weeks have showed the signs on the store front illustrating this. A recent photo posted on Facebook shows the notice posted on the door by local officials.

What the Notice on Noah's Café Door Says

The above notice reads in part:

BUSINESS CLOSED
UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE - PURSUANT TO LA RS 47:337:33 FOR
NON-PAYMENT OF LAFAYETTE PARISH SALES TAX
By Order of the 15th Judicial District Court
This Business is Prohibited From Further Operation

As background, Lafayette Parish sales taxes are primarily paid to the Lafayette Parish School System Sales Tax Division, which acts as the central collector for local sales and use taxes.

We will follow this developing story as we know many of you love Noah's Café. Hopefully, an amicable solution can be reached and the restaurant can open back up soon.
