The Dat Dog building on Jefferson St. in Downtown Lafayette has been vacant for nearly three years. However, it looks like all that's about to change.

Jim Deggy’s Brick Oven Pizza & Brewery Coming To Lafayette

Restaurant owner Paul Averett was looking to expand his Pineville, La business, Jim Deggy’s Brick Oven Pizza, to either Bossier City or Lafayette.

According to theadvocate.com, Averett was visiting Lafayette when he walked out of  Reve Coffee Roasters Downtown when he saw the empty Dat Dog building.

That's when he knew he would be expanding to Lafayette.

Averett tells theadvocate.com -

"Anybody you talk to says Lafayette is moving. They say Lafayette people got the money and like to go out to eat. My general manager comes down here a lot, and she likes the area. It looks like a really good market down here."

The new restaurant will occupy the bottom floor of the old Dat Dog restaurant and will also include roughly 10 in-house-brewed craft-style beers along with cocktails.

So, what is Jim Deggy's all about?

From jimdeggys.com -

"We serve Hand-Tossed personal-sized Pizzas with a desirable, sweet, and savory signature crust unlike anything served in Louisiana. We use a Brick Wood-Fired Oven that revolves, ensuring an even bake throughout."

Their menu has some pretty delicious-sounding pizzas too, like The Voodoo which features "White Sauce, Pepperoni, Boudin, Jalapeno, Cream Cheese, Pepper Jack."

Or, how about The Couchon Doux featuring "Fresh Mozzarella, Balsamic Glaze, Arugula, Candied Bacon, Prosciutto"?
