LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KMDL-FM) - The 2026 Grammy Awards took place on Sunday and once again a handful of Louisiana artists took home trophies.

Zydeco Tribute Album Wins Regional Roots Grammy

The biggest win for the Acadiana area came in the Best Regional Roots Music Album category as the winner was "A Tribute to the King of Zydeco," an all-star tribute to Clifton Chenier celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth.

The album was released on Joel Savoy's Valcour Records, and it consists of songs written by or associated with Chenier, all redone by Louisiana musicians collaborating with special guests, including the Rolling Stones.

The Regional Roots Music category was guaranteed to get a Louisiana winner as all nominees were from the Bayou State. The other nominees included Preservation Hall Jazz Band keyboardist Kyle Roussel for "Church of New Orleans"; Corey Henry & the Treme Funktet for “Live At Vaughan’s”; Preservation Brass & Preservation Hall Jazz Band for “For Fat Man;” and Trombone Shorty & the New Breed Brass Band for “Second Line Sunday.”
