Louisiana's 10 Wealthiest Parishes for 2026

LOUISIANA - When people think about wealth in Louisiana, places like Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans are the ones that usually come to mind. But, new income data shows some of Louisiana smaller Parishes are quietly outperforming many of the state's most populated areas.

A recent analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data ranked Louisiana's highest-earning Parishes based on median household income, and the results may surprise you.

Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Stacker.com compiled a list of the highest-earning parishes in Louisiana.

How Acadiana Stacks Up

Lafayette Parish continues to hold its own among Louisiana's higher-income areas.

Lafayette Parish ranked 11th overall with a median household income of nearly $68,000. That's ahead of many larger Parishes across Louisiana and reflects Lafayette Parish's strengths in healthcare, technology, education, energy, and small business growth.

Several other Acadiana parishes also appeared high in the rankings as well, including Vermilion, St. Martin, Iberia, and Jefferson Davis Parishes.

Some Surprising Names Near The Top

One of the more interesting takeaways from the rankings is the appearance of smaller Parishes like Cameron, East Feliciana, and West Feliciana.

These Parishes don't have the population numbers of places like Jefferson, East Baton Rouge, or Orleans Parish, but they show of the strongest incomes in Louisiana. In Cameron Parish, for example, more than 37% of households earn over $100,000 annually according to U.S. Census Bureau.

The Top 10 Highest-Earning Parishes In Louisiana

According to the Census data, these parishes posted the highest median household incomes in Louisiana:

1. Ascension Parish — $92,266
2. West Baton Rouge Parish — $87,320
3. Plaquemines Parish — $82,874
4. St. Charles Parish — $82,172
5. St. Tammany Parish — $79,277
6. Livingston Parish — $78,617
7. West Feliciana Parish — $74,277
8. East Feliciana Parish — $72,899
9. Cameron Parish — $72,500
10. Calcasieu Parish — $67,849
